Candidate requirements
Job specification - Review and analyze patient medical records to identify diagnoses and procedures requiring coding.
- Assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures based on official coding guidelines.
- Ensure coding practices adhere to federal regulations, including compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing requirements.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation in support of accurate and complete coding.
- Participate in ongoing coding audits and educational initiatives to ensure compliance and maintain coding accuracy.
Candidate requirements - An Associate's degree in Health Information Management or a related field is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding, with an emphasis on ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
- Experience in coding for various healthcare settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory services.
