Job Overview:

As a Red Hat Linux Engineer, you will serve as the primary engineer responsible for preparing and implementing technical solutions to meet customer requirements. This role involves coordinating requirements based on customer documentation, interviews, and affected lines of service. You will develop project definitions and engineering estimates, including cost estimates and cost-benefit analyses, and manage or execute the implementation of approved technical solutions. Your active participation across all phases of the development life cycle is crucial, with a focus on planning, analysis, testing, and acceptance.

You will design and prepare technical reports and related documentation, provide briefings, and update project/task status. Additionally, you will prepare purchase requests and configuration management documentation. Attending Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings with government customers to learn about new requirements is also part of your role. Engaging with customers to ensure that the implemented solutions meet their needs and providing technical expertise will be key aspects of your job.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will build UNIX/Linux servers, ensure security requirements are met, test servers, systems, software, and hardware, and integrate them into the production environment. You will provide necessary documentation for operating and maintaining equipment or software to the Operations Division team members, monitor performance, document issues, and offer recommendations. Performing other job duties as assigned will also be part of your role.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of hands on working experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • DOD 8570 Information Assurance Technical Level II (Or Higher (i.e. Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP)
  • Experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.x / 8.x, VMware VSphere 6.x and higher, Red Hat Satellite 6.7 and higher
  • Experience with Automation/Configuration Management for Linux (Puppet, Ansible)
  • Experience with Containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and Container Orchestration (Tanzu, OpenShift)
  • Experience with vRealize Automation and vRealize Operations
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience in one of the following (Chef, Puppet, RedHat, Ansible, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation)
  • Working understanding of system engineering processes including requirements gathering, technical solution creation, implementation, and test/verification
  • Experience with System Integration (hardware, software, network, and database)
  • Experience with Multi-hardware system operation, performance, and system effectiveness
  • Experience with SAN hardware layout and configuration
  • Experience with system security and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)
  • Experience with system engineering tools such as Visio
  • Strong technical writing skills
