Position Overview
The Nursery Operations Manager plays a key leadership role in executing nursery fundamentals, including managing nursery yard associates, signage and inventory, plant health, and safe equipment operation, as well as the purchasing of plant material.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for plants, landscaping, and horticulture.
What you'll do:
Maintain and promote yard safety excellence
Maintain yard organization and execute merchandising initiatives within the yard
Maintain up-to-date and clean displays, including product signage, labels, and tags
Manage the fleet of equipment (including skid steers, rubber tire wheel loaders, and forklifts) and arrange for equipment repairs and replacement, as needed
Provide direct leadership, management, and training of yard associates
Ensure loading and unloading excellence
Perform inventory cycle counts
Assist in ordering plant material
Conduct yearly performance reviews and development discussions
Partner with leadership and Field Support to understand the impact of emerging technologies and ways of working on business performance, and actively support and lead their implementation

Skills We Are Seeking
Knowledge of plant health, plant identification, and garden maintenance
Ability to perform heavy lifting
Familiarity with greenhouse operations and mechanical knowledge is a plus
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and staff
Computer proficiency (capable of entering orders, receiving purchase orders, sending emails, approving time, etc.)
Ready and willing to learn and adopt, and encourage others to learn and adopt, new technologies and ways of working
High school diploma or equivalent
