Description Solano Community College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for possible temporary part-time kinesiology teaching assignments. These positions are filled on an as needed basis and are on-going recruitments. Assignments may include day, evening and weekend courses. The district may cancel classes or change instructors as enrollment needs are determined. The adjunct faculty member, under the leadership of the Dean for the School of Health Sciences, shall be responsible for teaching courses in the Kinesiology Department. The courses assigned may include, but are not limited to: kinesiology, athletics and health education courses, such as first aid, aerobic fitness, exercise science, fitness, pilates, swimming, tennis, volleyball, weight lifting, yoga and dance, and other undergraduate kinesiology theory-based and activity courses. Teaching assignments may include day, evening and weekend hours, and taught on the main Fairfield Campus, at the Vallejo and Vacaville Centers, and online and hybrid modalities.
This position is a part-time position. The teaching assignment may require teaching lecture-discussion courses during day, evening or on Saturday and/or in an on-line/distance education format. The assignments are as-needed, during Spring, Summer, and/or Fall semesters. This position is a "pool" position, meaning that openings may or may not be currently available. The District maintains a "pool" of applications for positions which are needed on an ongoing basis at Solano Community College. The advantage of "pool" positions is when a position becomes available, the Dean may immediately begin screening applications from the available pool of applicants without having to post a position and wait while the position is being advertised.

Paid office hours are available to adjunct faculty who teach a 40% assignment or more in fall and spring semesters. *As the recommended candidate for this position, you will be required to participate in an in-person orientation at our main campus in Fairfield, CA. In addition, the District is unable to employ any person who does not have a California address. Responsibilities - Provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations.
- Inform students about course requirements; prepare and grade assignments and examinations.
- Meet administrative timelines and submit completed and required documents and reports.
- Maintain required student attendance and scholastic records.
- Participate in division staff meetings.
- Keep student learning outcomes current and assess courses.
- Review curriculum and assess student learning.
Instructors must provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations; review curriculum and assess student learning; inform students about course requirements; prepare and grade assignments and examinations; meet administrative timelines and submit completed and required documents and reports; maintain required student attendance and scholastic records, and communicate and work effectively with others.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications to Teach Kinesiology (KINE) Courses :
Master's degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education OR
Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy OR the equivalent.

Equivalency is defined as possessing the general education for the degree and the major coursework for the degree. The equivalency request form shall be included in the application
