Job Title: Executive Chef

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: General Manager

Salary Range: $65,000 – 75,000 based on experience.

Inventors Brewpub is a fast-growing, independently operated craft brewery, restaurant and events space in historic downtown Port Washington, Wisconsin. We have celebrated our 6-year anniversary and just announced the building of a state-of-the-art facility located on the harbor walk of Lake Michigan (straddles the downtown and the marina). Inventors Brewpub has revived the rich brewing history in Port Washington, dating back to 1847, a year before Wisconsin became a state. Inventors Brewpub fully embraces the potential of infusing our handcrafted beers into our diverse range of casual brewpub dishes, creating a truly immersive and flavor-packed dining experience. Inventors Brewpub boasts the largest event center in downtown Port Washington, featuring vaulted ceilings, expansive windows and garage doors, a second-floor mezzanine, and an outdoor balcony that offers stunning views of Lake Michigan and its vibrant marina. Get to know this role:

We are looking for an experienced Executive Chef to join our team at our Brewpub and Event facility. The Executive Chef will be responsible for the overall culinary operations of the Brewpub and Event Center, including menu development, kitchen staff management, and food preparation.

Inventors Brewpub needs individuals that naturally possess a true owner/operator mentality who will help contribute to our long-term success. We look for those individuals who apply themselves to their work, have an eye for detail and for identifying and correcting inefficiencies. They celebrate work well done while also recognizing there is room for continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual who is excited to join us in dialing in our brewery, restaurant, and Banquet facility to be the best it can be.

 

As our Executive Chef, you will be responsible for :

1. Leadership:

· Reinforce our culture with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and staff engagement.

· Hiring, model good training, continued coaching, administer performance reviews and mentoring to other staff members.

· Adhere to all applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.

· Keeping all BOH team members accountable and executing follow through.

· Work with the FOH team to ensure that all orders are fulfilled in a timely manner.

 

3. Hands on Administration:

· Weekly food inventories.

· Create, audit, and update recipes, food costing spreadsheets, SOP’s, cleaning schedules, opening, and closing procedures.

· Assist with company operations as needed (beer releases, beer dinners, special events).

 

4. Coordination & Scheduling:

· Communicate Brewpub prep and Event Center prep to the kitchen team.

· Oversee food and chemical usage and place orders with food suppliers.

· Oversee and coordinate all reactive and preventive maintenance activities on all pertinent equipment.

· Food order receiving, rotating, and inventory management.

· Scheduling and execution of BOH staff for Brewpub and working closely with our Event Planner in preparation of events in our Banquet facility.

 

Details about our ideal candidate:

1. Skill and Knowledge:

· 3+ years of experience in the culinary and banquet industry.

· Team and community engagement.

· Strong work ethic and can-do attitude.

· Mechanically minded fixing and troubleshooting.

· Culinary degree preferred. (not required).

· Emphasis on execution and consistency.

 

2. Personal Competencies:

· Remain calm under pressure and when dealing with the unexpected.

· Be a strong and trusting team player.

· Maintain relationships with coworkers, customers, vendors, outside organizations.

· Good computer skills.

· Self-motivating (work and self-improvement).

· Excellent communication skills.

 

3. Philosophy:

· Acknowledge that this is a people business and act accordingly with respect, integrity, and intolerance of discrimination.

4. Hours, Travel and Physical Requirements:

· Work weekdays, weekends, early mornings/evenings. 45-50hrs/week

· Work in a standing position for long periods of time.

· Work with GM to request time off in advance.

· Ability to lift 55 pounds.

· Ability to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs.

· Ability to safely handle raw foods and chemicals and to follow health and sanitation requirements and avoid cross contamination.

· Ability to work in heat, cold, loud, humid conditions.

· Has a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to pick up supplies.
