Job Description

The candidate will be a key person to welcome visitors to the newsroom, answer all incoming calls to the newsroom and transfer those calls to the appropriate person or department. The position is Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and to be filled immediately.

Hours: Monday Friday, 8 am 5 pm
Location: Spokane, WA
What you'll do: The Spokesman-Review has an immediate opening for a full-time Editorial Assistant to work in our Newsroom in downtown Spokane. If you are a detailed oriented person, have a thirst for the news and information, then this may be the perfect position for you. Deliver information to reporters and editors by phone and email, along with assisting with various projects. Daily, confirm and input letters to the editor. Compiling daily records from district, superior and federal courts. Compiling daily comics pages. Daily input of event listings into a database and creating various calendars to appear in print. Compiling information for a business column and calendars. Daily monitoring inboxes for incoming press releases and/or respond to readers. Other duties as assigned.
What you'll contribute to our team: Prior experience with Microsoft Outlook and Word preferred. Excellent spelling (to be tested), typing (to be tested), proofreading, problem solving and organizational skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently; accuracy is essential. Able to meet daily deadlines. Prior office assistant experience is preferred, but not required.
