Job Title: Chemical Engineer (Plant Cell Culture Scientist)

Metric Bio has partnered with an innovative client revolutionizing agriculture through cellular methods. This client develops cutting-edge in vitro techniques to produce plant-based materials, such as cotton, using fewer resources and reducing environmental impact.

The Role:

We are seeking an on-site Chemical Engineer (Plant Cell Culture Scientist) to join our pioneering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing, optimizing, and executing protocols for plant cell culture processes that enable the production of cotton (and more) in vitro. Your work will directly contribute to a sustainable solution for producing essential materials while minimizing environmental impact.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize protocols for plant cell culture and metabolite quantification.
• Perform HPLC and GC-MS to analyze and quantify plant metabolites, including polyphenols.
• Develop and validate assays to measure key chemical and biological processes in plant cell cultures.
• Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring precise and reproducible results.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and designers to drive innovation.
• Document experimental results and contribute to publications, patents, or internal reports.

Qualifications:

• Master’s, or Ph.D. in Plant Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in industry with HPLC , GC-MS , and other analytical techniques.
• Proven expertise in protocol and assay development, especially for plant metabolites.
